SILKYPIX lets you take photos where details are lost, either in dark areas or in overexposed or washed out areas and then restore them to what they were when you took your picture.
Lost Details in Shadows
Portions of the back of the duck are dark as compared to the other brighter areas around it. Dodging increases the light in the dark areas.
Lost Details with Overexposed Backgrounds
Here is an example of over exposure. Areas of light and dark are extreme, with details washed out from the exposed white areas on the building and the sky. The background is too bright. Dodging can restore gradation and the color of the areas which are overexposed. SILKYPIX can do this because it can make intelligent use of data in your RAW file.
Lost Details in Extreme Contrast
The water is so washed out in this photo that it is hard to tell if the horizon appears in the photo or not. Much of the detail of the wave splash is lost. This can be fixed easily in SILKYPIX.
